Note: Please be logged into QuickBooks as your Admin user before creating the backup.
- In QuickBooks, click the File menu button to the get the drop options.
- Under the File drop down, hover your mouse over Back Up Company. Then when the next Window Appears out, choose Create Local Backup.
- The next windows that appears will ask what type of backup location. Choose Local backup. Then click Next.
- Another Window will appear asking where the local backup should be stored, limit to how many backups copies and reminders to do backups. Uncheck the box that says, Limit the number of backup copies in the folder to. The uncheck the backup, Remind me to back up when I close my company file every. Keep Complete verification (recommended) checked.
- Next, choose the browse button under Backup Options. This will open a window to browse to a location to save the backup. A scroll bar on the right side of this window will let you scroll down to find the Q drive on the server. Select the Q drive and find your company folder. Select it and click Ok to choose that location for the backup.
- After you click Ok in the Browse for Folder. The location of the backup will display in the Tell us where to save your backup box. Click Ok on this screen to continue.
- QuickBooks will warn that the backup location is in the same place as your file. Click Use this Location to continue. Placing the backup in your Q drive is the most reliable location for your backup on R360 Servers.
- The next screen will ask When do you want to save your backup copy? Choose Save it now and then click Finish.
- The next screen will do the Data verifying of integrity. Allow this progress screen to finish.
- The next screen will be the Backup of the data progress bar. Please allow this to finish.
- The last screen that appears will tell you the backup is complete and the location to find the backup. Please note the location before clicking Ok. Once you have the location, click Ok to close.
- Open File Explorer. From the documented location of the backup, browse to find your backup files. They will be the name of your company file with a .QBB at the end of the name. Once you found the backup, you can right click and copy the backup and then paste it on your local computer for archiving purposes if you need it.
